I have had the pleasure of teaching xxxx on the above dates. His main aim was to improve fluency in speaking and to widen his vocabulary.
I feel that we have done this.
We have referred to the materials below so that he could see the context in which legal words are used and identify and learn the words he didn't know. This has sometimes led to journeys into related areas both of law and of practice as a lawyer. In addition he has described some of his experiences including studying to be a lawyer and his experiences as a lawyer. This has involved talking about the sort of work he does and matters on which he has worked, in particular 2 litigation matters (yyyy and zzzz ).
As well as introducing him to some new language, this has provided an opportunity for error correction. This was also the case with his descriptions of the position under Italian law in comparison with English law in the areas covered.
Throughout, there has been much student / teacher interaction and xxxx has produced a lot of language. As the lessons have progressed, this has become more fluent and wider ranging in terms of the words and constructions used as xxxx has become more confident and experimented with new constructions and words.
A student of xxxx's level is well placed to continue his English studies on his own and I have made suggestions as to self study and the use of dictionaries and other materials. He is enthusiastic about learning English and this will be of great assistance when he works on his English in the future.
One thing on which we didn't do much work is pronunciation. His pronunciation does not impede comprehension but would benefit from some further work. A few hours would lead to a significant improvement.
